My kimono club
 is holding its first contest now!This is my entry for it. The theme is spring kimono. There are a list of motifs in the clubs journal and the goal of the contest was to design a kimono based on at least one of those motifs. I chose the wysteria motif and decided to do a drawing of Fuji Musume (the wysteria maiden). Fuji Musume is a very famous dance performed both by maiko, and onnagata (in kabuki). There isn't really much of a story, but from what I remember it basically tells about the life of the wysteria tree embodied in a young woman. I based the kimono on a version of the costume that I fell in love with a while back and nearly bought. |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
