Down in the forest
Deep in the lowlands My heart cries out For the hills of the north Blue lake and rocky shore I will return once more... Excerpt from the song "Land of the Silver Birch" This is the painting that is on currently on consignment in the Friends of Killarney gift shop. It illustrates a verse from the song "Land of the Silver Birch" in my proposed book of Canadian folk songs. It was painted from a composite of two photos taken by a couple of my friends. One photo shows a cliff face from Great Mountain Lake (in the northern reaches of the park) and the second photo showed the view of Little Mountain Lake from that cliff face. This image is one of the most distinctively Killarney paintings I did for the book. The quartzite cliffs and rolling hills make the landscape unmistakable. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces.
