Full title: "Nokomis Overlooking Gitchee-Gumee"
DA won't let me post a title that long... And now, an exerpt from: "The Song of Hiawatha" By: H. W. Longfellow "By the shores of Gitchee Gumee By the shining big-sea-water Stood the wigwam of Nokomis Daughter of the moon Nokomis Dark behind it rose the forest Rose the black and gloomy pine-trees Rose the firs with cones upon them; Bright before it beat the water Beat clear and sunny water Beat the shining big-sea-water." © H. W. Longfellow Well, this is the painting that I started on my vacation. I finally finished it and got it scanned. Here, I show you a cliff called Nokomis (Grandmother) that overlooks Lake Superior (Gitchee-Gumee). Sometimes, if you're lucky, they say you can see the face of an old woman in the cliff. Unfortunately, I had no such luck while I was painting so I doubt you'll be able to see the face in my picture. Media: Acrylic |
