Artist's Comments

One misty evening I hiked the Granite Ridge trail in Killarney. When I got to the top I was rewarded with this stunning view of the sun setting over the mist shrouded hills. There was a storm raging far off over Manitoulin Island, and I could hear the waves roaring in the distance on Georgian Bay. The birds and the waves provided the most etherial soundtrack. One of the people who was hiking with me remarked that this was the first time he ever really felt like the birds were singing. That they sounded like a symphony.

The exposure on this photo was edited somewhat to lighten the foreground a bit. I was having difficulty exposing both the foreground and background properly in person because there was such a difference between the two.

Aside from this photo, I also created a painting of this scene for the La Cloche art show. I'll upload that one eventually.

That's gorgeous! And this is why I like hiking-you get to see all the best spots. :)

I can't say I've heard of the Granite Ridge trail-how long is it? Is it a day hike or a backpacking trail? *curious*

Thanks! Though I live in the city - which I consider ugly - most of the year. I'm happy you like the little tree, it needs some love. ^_^
